Zachary T. Levine Search: GO!

Zachary T. Levine Zachary T. Levine, M.D., is a board certified neurosurgeon with advanced training in cranial base surgery and stereotactic/functional surgery for movement disorders. In addition, he has extensive experience in deep brain stimulation, image-guided, computer assisted microsurgery.  He is the director of Functional Neurosurgery and Movement Disorders at the Washington Hospital Center.  He also has interest in spinal surgery especially endoscopic and microscopic disk surgery and spinal instrumentation for trauma and degenerative disease.  A graduate of Dartmouth College, Dr. Levine completed medical school at New York University School of Medicine in the Honors Program. He did his residency in neurological surgery at the George Washington University Medical Center. Dr. Levine has taught cranial base surgical approaches at national meetings and has authored original articles and book chapters in cranial base and neurovascular surgery. He currently holds a patent for cell transplantation for neuro-degenerative diseases and movement disorders.

Dr. Levine is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners. He holds memberships in a number of professional societies including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, North American Skull Base Society, and the American Society of Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery.  He is also an active member of the Osler Society.  He serves on the board of the Parkinson Foundation of the National Capital Area. His efforts in neurosurgery have been recognized by induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He has received both the Singer and Resident research awards for his original clinical research in neurosurgery. Dr. Levine is currently licensed in the District of Columbia and Maryland. He resides in the D.C. metropolitan area with his wife and two daughters.
